Microfinance for a million smiles

Dr Kalpana Sankar, Dr Madhu Sharan

First published in 2005

Microfinance projects aimed at empowering women have clearly demonstrated that poor women have the capacity to decide and take control over their lives if adequate opportunities are provided to them. This book emphasises on Hand in Hand India’s new microfinance model for job creation. Hand in Hand measures success on the number of micro-enterprises and jobs created and not the number of SHGs or the number of women mobilised.  It tries to explore the various strategies used to create sustainable jobs for the poor women in rural areas through this unique approach to microfinance.
