The microfinance initiatives of Hand in Hand India strive to promote ‘jobs for growth’ for thousands of self-help group (SHG) women through training, capacity building and access to credit and skill development. The various livelihood options promoted by Hand in Hand India in Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu are mostly agriculture based and form a circle of connected inputs and outputs. All agriculture-based alternatives are part of similar cycles of interdependence and mutual benefit. This book presents the journey of Hand in Hand India’s SHG women towards sustainable agriculture. It includes the initiatives and enterprises created by these women and the results achieved in Kancheepuram.
