We no longer have to travel long distances to fetch water."

A year ago, Kalabai’s day used to begin hours before sunrise. Pots in hand, she would often walk kilometers at a stretch. All for a pail of water; a resource that has been scarce in her native Lohari village in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district. During summers, more than half the water sources in Lohari village dry up making the situation worse. Through our Community Drinking Water Project, we deepened a pond in Kalabai’s village and built a well nearby. Harvesting the rainwater, the Project has ensured water supply through the year for 32 families in Lohari.
