597 million people in India practice open defecation. Through a holistic approach, our objective is to prevent open defecation and promote better sanitation in villages. This is done by motivating villagers to construct and use household toilets. Our efforts are also aimed at strengthening toilets in schools, anganwadis (Government-run day-care centres), and women’s sanitary complex. We motivate people to build low-cost sanitation facilities through loans and Government welfare schemes.
