Global Presence

This is where it all began — Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu in 2002. Today, we work across the State in 17 districts. The five interventions along with the Village Uplift Programme have been implemented in the State.

The Self-Help Group & Microfinance Programme has been implemented successfully in the Union Territory of Puducherry with a large number of diverse enterprises, including handicrafts, mushrooming over the years.

We operate in two districts of Karnataka. The SHG & Microfinance Programme is operational in Haveri and Davangere Districts and the IT & Governance intervention has been implemented in the Haveri District.
We have also started a 3-year project in Nelamangala and Doddaballapur, in the outskirts of Bengaluru to empower women at the bottom of the pyramid.

Our operations commenced in January 2011 at Paud in Pune District. We are currently implementing our Village Uplift Programme in Pune district.

We have implemented four of our interventions in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from the Self-Help Group & Microfinance Programme, we also conduct medical camps for the rural poor. We work closely with MV Foundation to implement our education intervention at Nalcha Block. The Environment intervention in the State includes the successful implementation of the community drinking water project.

Working in Sundergarh District, we have initiated our Self-Help Group & Microfinance Programme in Odisha. Through the SHG & Microfinance Programme we have helped address the lack of alternate livelihood opportunities that has impeded the socio-economic conditions of many, including the vast majority of the tribal communities who continue to be severely marginalised in Sundergarh District.

Our operations began in Pali, Rajasthan in 2012.The initiatives in Rajasthan are in alignment with the Government of India’s ‘Mission Poorna Shakti’, being spearheaded under the Ministry’s National Mission for Empowerment of Women NMEW.

In March 2015 Hand in Hand India expanded its presence to West Bengal with the launch of the Village Uplift Programme (VUP) –  an integrated village uplift program designed to bring about comprehensive and sustained development – at the Ichhapur-Nilgunj Panchayat in North 24 Parganas District, one of the highest populated districts of India. Through partnerships with local stakeholders, including the panchayat heads, villagers and other government and non-governmental organisations, developmental initiatives are implemented in the areas of skill building, job creation, education, healthcare, environment, and IT and governance.

Other South East Asian Countries

Hand in Hand Cambodia is an NGO that is being established to replicate the HiH job-creation interventions to help rural women.  Adopting HiH India’s self-help group model, its mission is to create 50,000 jobs.
Hand in Hand Cambodia will help set-up family-based enterprises and microenterprises and work on creating value chains in agriculture products, especially rice. It will also work to establish a regional credit operator to provide affordable microcredit to rural women.
