17-year-old Raghuraman is busy preparing for the 10th standard board exams in one of Hand in Hand’s transit schools. The transit schools target children who have dropped out of school or not passed the standard ten board exams. In the transit schools, the children are given efficient coaching by qualified teachers, who assist them in completing their studies and encourage them to enrol in higher classes.
Raghuraman was down with chicken pox a year ago, and hence could not appear for the 10th standard board exams. As a result of this, he dropped out of school. He was dejected and thought his future was bleak. This was when he met one of the transit school teachers who motivated him to join the transit school.
Does he like the coaching in the transit school? Is he confident of passing the board exam? A big smile and a confident nod says it all.
