NGO India 2012

19 March 2012

Hand in Hand India participated in the NGO India 2012, an exhibition and conference held at Epicenter, Gurgaon between 16 and 18 March 2012. The programme was organised by UBM (United Business Media) India with the support of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Guidestar India, Oxfam and The National Trust. The event attracted about 150 NGOs from all over the country.

The not-for-profit exhibition and conference was designed to facilitate networking and knowledge sharing amongst the country’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and NGO communities. The three-day event comprised of free-to-attend workshops for NGOs on best practices in governance and other crucial back-office skills. In addition, during the first two days of the event, a high-level paid conference for corporate CEOs, NGOs and government was also hosted. The topics covered during this conference included: The Role of NGOs in Delivering Inclusive & Sustainable Development and Opportunities & Challenges in Executing Social Initiatives.

About 40 stalls were set up by various NGOs. Hand in Hand India not just had the opportunity to profile the work of the organisation, but also showcase and sell products made by the self-help group members. The coconut shell and papier mâché products were among the most sought-after products in the exhibition. The organisation gained much visibility through participation in the event.
