Child Labour Elimination Programme (CLEP) in Vellore was started in March 2007 with the first day-care school in the Anaicut Block on 3 March 2007 covering hilly regions namely Peenjamandhai, Palaanpattu and Jarthankauli panchayats. The school was started to educate about 917 Scheduled Tribe (ST) children who were Never Enrolled (N.E) and Drop Outs (D.O) from 67 villages. For never enrolled children and those who had dropped out of school for a long time, Hand in Hand runs two Residential Bridge Schools - in Muthukumaran Malai for boys and Anaicut for girls. So far 341 children have benefitted from this initiative.
