Every summer, Hand in Hand offers a four-week Global Leaders Internship Programme focused on well-defined projects and deliverables. We welcome master and Ph.D students from universities all over the world to apply to the programme, and we are especially looking for graduate students in the fields of development economics, sustainable development, economics, entrepreneurship, and business.
Hand in Hand recently hosted ten students for its summer internship programme. These interns were from the Stockholm School of Economics, the Harvard Business School, the Duke University, US, the Rotterdam School of Management, Netherlands, Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Kings College, London School of Medicine. The students worked on projects related to microfinance and Self Help Groups, including Hand in Hand’s approach to medium size enterprises, suggestions to improve market linkages for SHG products, and the development of a suitable micro-insurance product for the rural poor. Interns also worked on projects that analysed how Hand in Hand can improve the sustainability of its Citizen Centre Enterprises and the monitoring and evaluation mechanism to track the progress of the Village Upliftment Programme.
"The internship programme exceeded my expectations. The primary reason for this was the internship’s provision of not only a professional experience but also a truly rewarding social experience through the deep insight into grass root operations that I was given by Hand in Hand."
Hilma Gustavsson,
Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden
"Personally, I learned to plan and carry out a project in a developing country, with all challenges that come with that. Academically, I learned what I came to learn and the stay will hopefully result in an academic article or two. "
Gustav Borgefalk,
