Executive summary
Hand in Hand India understands the inter-linkages and cause-effect relationship between various dimensions of rural poverty, and the need to apply an integrated approach to tackling it. In comparison with some organisations that work purely on a “sectoral” approach, Hand in Hand India’s integrated approach to poverty reduction works by tackling social, economic and environmental factors, through inter-linked interventions in microfinance focusing on job creation, education, health, livelihoods, information dissemination and knowledge empowerment, and environmental management. These are in line with the UN’s Millennium Development Goals.
